The OTC DAIHEN D12000 is a true “steel tailor.” As a 120A-class water-cooled heavy-duty air plasma cutting machine, it boasts exceptionally strong arc compression and penetration. Whether it’s a 1.2mm thin sheet or a 60mm heavy casting, by matching the correct parameters, it can slice through as smoothly as a hot knife through butter. However, plasma cutting is highly dependent on the perfect synergy of “current, nozzle orifice diameter, cutting speed, and torch standoff height.” This article exclusively reveals the official standard parameter tables for cutting mild steel and stainless steel with the D12000.
I. Cutting Expert Warning: The “Life & Death” Rules for Selecting Plasma Consumables
Before reviewing the parameter tables below, operators must strictly memorize the following consumable matching principles; otherwise, the nozzle will explode and be ruined the moment the arc is struck:
- Strictly Prohibit “Overpowering”: The nozzle orifice diameter is strictly designed based on the current level. You absolutely must not install a small-bore 30A nozzle (H839K03) when using a massive 120A current! The immense arc energy cannot escape through the tiny orifice and will instantly melt and destroy the copper nozzle.
- Avoid “Underpowering”: Conversely, if you use a low 30A current to cut thin plates but install a large-bore 120A nozzle (H839G03), the plasma arc cannot be effectively compressed. The arc will become erratic, broad, and weak, resulting in a very wide kerf with severe dross and slag accumulation.
- Maintain Correct Torch Standoff Height: Do not drag the nozzle tightly pressed against the steel plate! The “Nozzle Height (2-5mm)” in the parameter table is crucial; it prevents molten metal blowback from clogging the nozzle orifice during cutting.
II. D12000 Cutting Parameters for Mild Steel & Stainless Steel
Please select the corresponding “Current” and “Genuine Nozzle Part No.” strictly based on your actual plate thickness. The speeds in the table are reference values; during actual operation, observe the direction of the spark spray below the kerf (sparks spraying vertically downward or trailing slightly backward indicates the optimal speed).
| Plate Thickness (mm) |

100 – 200 | 4 – 5 |
| 16.0 | 60 – 120 | |||
| 25.0 | 40 – 60 | |||
| 40.0 | 20 – 30 | |||
| 50.0 | Below 20 | |||
| 60.0 | Approx. 10 (Limit Penetration) |
* Piercing Process Reminder: When cutting extra-thick plates over 25mm, it is strictly prohibited to strike an arc and pierce vertically right in the center of the plate, as this will cause blowback molten iron to instantly clog the nozzle. You must start the arc and enter the cut from the [Edge] of the steel plate!
